Guiding Principles
Every engagement with Kim Crayton LLC is grounded in the Profit Without Oppression framework. These are not aspirational values posted on a wall. They are the operating conditions of the work. They shape every recommendation, every challenge, every decision made inside an advising relationship.
Tech is Not Neutral, Nor is it Apolitical. Every technology decision your organization makes reflects a set of values, whether you named them or not. Who benefits. Who is excluded. Who bears the cost. Treating technology as a neutral tool is itself a political choice, and it is one that consistently produces harm for the people least equipped to absorb it.
Intention without Accurately Informed Strategy is Chaos. Wanting to do better is not a plan. Some organizations cause harm with full awareness of what they are doing. Others are operating with no framework for understanding who their decisions actually impact and how. This work is for the latter. Building that framework is where the engagement begins.
Lack of Inclusion is a Risk/Crisis Management Issue. This is not about representation. It is about organizational intelligence. When the range of human experience in the room is narrow, the policies, procedures, and processes that room produces will have gaps. Those gaps are not diversity problems. They are business risks.
Prioritize the Most Vulnerable. The most vulnerable people affected by your decisions are the most accurate indicator of whether those decisions are working. Not the most comfortable. Not the most powerful. The most vulnerable. Organizations that build from that standard build something that actually holds.
These principles are not a checklist. They are a practice. If you are ready to work from them, keep reading.
